ABSTRACT
After an anterior cruciate ligament injury, many patients cannot continue to carry their normal everyday or athletic activities. Some patients suffer secondary meniscus rupture and gonarthrosis. The objective of this work is to present a surgical technique of simple execution, which allows a fast return of the patient to his or her daily activities. There were 96 cases in the Hospital Regional 1° de Octubre, ISSSTE, in which an anterior cruciate ligament plasty by arthroscopy was applied through the semitendinosus and grackles tendons graft technique without removal in the tibial level (Lipscomb’s technique), using only a bioabsorbable interferential screw as fixation. The time of evolution of the study was from November of 2002 to October of 2006. The ages were between 16 and 52 years old; 86 (89.5%) were men, with meniscus pathology aggregated in 57 cases (53%). The time of recovery for the patients to return to their professional activities was of 2 months in average. It is a simple surgical technique, quick and low-priced, with minimal inputs and which can be done in any healthcare center with an ambulatory management and fast recovery.
