ABSTRACT
The fibular hemimelia is a defect of the long bones accompanied by other clinical manifestations: from a slight hypoplasia of fibula to its total absence. This disease may be associated to other manifestations such as absence of phalanges and curvature of the ipsilateral tibia; cases of association with multiple malformations have been reported. The diagnosis is radiological and it is possible to be performed in prenatal stage by ultrasonography and in postnatal stage by radiography. There are several classifications according to the affectation degree, which determines the treatment of the disease: amputation or extension of the extremity. This paper reports the case of a two months baby diagnosed in postnatal form by means of the clinical picture with shortening of the extremity and X-rays, at the present time he is in treatment with bony extension and rehabilitation.
