ABSTRACT
Objective: To present the benefits of vaginal Biclamp hysterectomy, in comparison with abdominal hysterectomy.Patients and methods: We performed 250 vaginal hysterectomies with Biclamp and 250 abdominal hysterectomies, from October 2005 to December 2007. We used the equipment Biclamp available in the Hospital General José María Morelos y Pavón, ISSSTE. The surgery was performed by gynecologists trained in the basic surgical technique.
Results: Different variables were assessed such as surgical time, hospital stay, transoperative bleeding and medical license. We observed reduction in all parameters by more than 50% for the vaginal surgery.
Conclusions: We conclude that vaginal hysterectomy with Biclamp reduces the cost in approximately 36% of the cost of the abdominal hysterectomy. It is a highly reproducible technique for the gynecologist who performed the surgery. Vaginal cosmetic should be considered by the absence of scares, with a spectacular recovery.
