Indicaciones y alternativas no quirúrgicas en el tratamiento de las fracturas metafisiarias distales del radio

ABSTRACT

The distal radial fractures described in literature for over 200 years now have evolved in their production mechanisms, morphology, and in the way they are treated; moreover the patients have changed, because the life expectancies have had a great increased, and thus meaning, the activity of the people. The indications of the non-chirurgical treatment of the distal radial fractures should be adjoint to the stable fractures, with minimum displacements and without articulate damage. In the same way mobilizing the wrist in forceful ways must be avoided, as these will lead to complications that could have irreversable consequences such as the compartment syndrome or the reflex sympathetic dystrophy. Treatment must therefore always be personalized taking into consideration the characteristics and particulaities of every injury.
