ABSTRACT
The paralytic ankle valgus deformity is a difficult treatment condition, with high biomechanical complexity, high rate of severe problems like dermic ulcers, problems with the Ankle foot orthotics, the anti-esthetical appearance, and high unsatisfactiction levels among parents, also the fibular shortening, condition which the solution hasn´t been well developed yet. That´s why we purpose to initiate the treatment at early ages. Several techniques have been used to improve these deformity of the ankle, however those techniques made an un-complete or un-predictable corrections, we purpose a technique that corrects directly the fibular shortening and the ankle valgus deformity, with progressive fibular lengthening, by external fixation, we used the Malhotra classification to determine the different levels of the distal epiphysis of the fibula compared with the distal epiphysis of the tibia, at the beginning and at the final stage of the treatment. 8 patients took part in this study. All participants were aged from 6 to 10 years, and their clinic and radiologic improvement was analyzed. We had high satisfaction rates, we therefore conclude that this method is confident for paralytic ankle valgus treatment.
