ABSTRACT
Thyroid nodules are common and carry a 5% risk of malignancy. The challenge of management is to identify benign nodules and to diagnose and treat malignant thyroid disease early. The current initial treatment plan includes TSH measurement, US, and FNA (FNA guided by US if necessary) seems to be practical, efficient and cost-effective. The FNA result determines the most effective treatment between surgery, I
131 or new treatment options like PEI.
