ABSTRACT
Deep neck infections in the pediatric population are relatively rare. Infectious processes are shared characteristics in terms of microbiological agents and whose mortality is high. We report the case of a boy 3 years old, previously healthy, who began his actual condition with the presence of non-tender mass in the left retroauricular region of 1 cm in diameter, roughly, soft and mobile, without changes in the color and temperature local. This description highlights the importance of timely diagnosis to influence surgical management and appropriate antimicrobial, and thus prevent the morbidity and mortality of this disease.
