ABSTRACT
We report the case of a 30 year-old man, HIV-positive, with multiple exophytic masses localized in the oral mucosa, gingiva and tongue. Histopathologic exam showed inflammatory granulation tissue as well as the presence of superficial squamous cells with characteristic herpetic cytopathic changes. Herpes infection was confirmed by immunohistochemistry. These lesions are a rare example of herpes vegetans extensively involving the oral mucosa.
