ABSTRACT
This essay aims to make a synthesis and at the same time an exhibition of the evolution of psychiatric nursing, highlighting its importance in the rehabilitation of people with mental illness. Based on the history of psychiatric nursing and its evolution
over time, it’s determined the progress of Nursing in the area of psychiatry, from being bare caregivers, to professionals with graduate studies in the field.
