ABSTRACT
Castleman’s disease can be defined as a distinctive reactive lymph node hyperplasia. Its has two entities, an unicentric form characterized as a solitary mass and a multicentric form which usually presents with systemic symptoms, multifocal compromise and association to other diseases. We report the case of a 40-year-old woman who complained due to increments of blood pressure. Physical examination and laboratory didn’t have positive findings. An abdominal computed tomography was performed, where a nodular lesion, isodense, of 18 mm in diameter was recognized in the right adrenal gland. Adrenalectomy was performed. The pathology report informed Castleman disease, hyaline vascular type in lymph node adjacent to adrenal gland. Retroperitoneal unicentric Castleman’s disease has been reported infrequently in pararenal area. Its etiology is unknown. Its final diagnosis is pathological, surgery is curative, survival of patients at 5 years is almost 100%, and recurrences are very rare. In conclusion, we emphasize that this disease can present as a retroperitoneal mass, mimicking other more common diseases.REFERENCES
