ABSTRACT
Adenomatoid hyperplasia of minor salivary glands (AHMSG) presents as a nodular mass of normal salivary tissue. We are reporting an example of AHMSG presenting in a 20 year-old woman as an asymptomatic, soft, nodule in the border between hard and soft palate of 2 months evolution. The lesion was resected with the presumptive diagnosis of salivary gland adenoma. The histology showed salivary gland tissue with an obvious and irregular increase of tubulo-acinar secretory units combined with adipose tissue infiltration in the stroma, which also extended to the periphery of the gland. We have not been able to find any reference describing the association of AHMSG and fatty infiltration of the stroma. It is importat to effectively recognize AHMSG when confronted with the differential diagnosis of salivary glands tumoral masses.
