ABSTRACT
Angiomyolipoma is a typical lesion of the kidney, although cases have been reported in extrarenal like lesions, it has been reported only a single case in larynx. This tumor shows three basic components: smooth muscle, blood vessels, thick-walled tortuous and mature adipose tissue and the consistent positive immunohistochemical marker HMB-45 in fourth histological component, called “perivascular epithelioid cells”. We report the case of a 71-year-old man, who had a history of intermittent dysphonia of 10 years of evolution. It was removed a vocal cord injury, with clinical consideration of squamous cell carcinoma. The histological analysis showed a lesion with abundant thick-walled vessels, smooth muscle and adipose tissue. Thus, it was performed immunohistochemistry with the possibility of extrarenal angiomyolipoma, being positive for CD34 and desmin but negative for HMB-45, leading to consider angiomyolipoma with abundant smooth muscle tissue.REFERENCES
