ABSTRACT
Little has been written in Mexico about the origin and prevention of medical errors when compared to other countries. This is a worldwide topic in which physicians, medical institutions and federal governments are working in order to provide patients with a safe and quality service. Herein, definitions of error, its classification, approach and management options are reviewed.
