ABSTRACT
Objective: To analyze patients operated of stress urinary incontinence even with suprapubic or transobturator sling, analyze their clinical parameters, the success rate, complications and recurrence.
Material and methods: All postoperative notes were revised and patients with suprapubic or transobturator slings were selected since these procedures began in our institution. We made a descriptive and transversal study and evaluated their evolution and complications.
Results: From august 2003 to august 2006 30 procedures were made. Median age was 51 years (29-76). Of these 10 (33.3%) have mixed incontinence and 20 (66.6%) as pure stress incontinence. In 20 patients cystocele were also found being type I 45%, II 40%, III 7.5% and IV 7.5%. 21 procedures were suprapubic and 9 transobturator. As complications there were 2 vaginal erosions (6.6%) and 1 hypercorrection with urinary retention (3.3%). Medium follow was 21.4 months. There were 2 recurreces (6.6%) and in 6 cases it develops novo urge incontinence (20%). In general it was a well accepted and tolerated procedure.
Conclusion: They are simple procedures with poor complications, high success and poor recurrences.
