The clinical implications of such an absence are very important, and can range from an altered development of the person’s maxillofacial bones to eating difficulties. In this article we review the syndromes that display a congenital absence of teeth; we also discuss their principal clinical features and the appropriate treatment for affected patients.Congenital absence of teeth has been named in different ways.
