ABSTRACT
We describe a patient with an abdominal mass who was treated by excision of the involved tissue. Histopathological analysis showed the presence of polyarteritis nodosa localized at the cecum. The patient had previously a malabsortion syndrome originated by an hereditary chronic pancreatitis. The relationship between an abnormal intestinal flora secondary to malabsortion and the subsecuent inmunological process is discussed. On follow up studies there was no evidence of active vasculitis in the intestine or other organs, 5 years after surgery.
