ABSTRACT
Objective. To evaluate the elements that integrate the obstetric clinical record in an obstetrics and gynecology hospital with the purpose of offering information for the definition of institutional strategies that contribute to the improvement of the quality of the medical attention. Material and methods. In a cross-sectional study was selected a random sample of 1,200 clinical records of pregnant patients assisted during the year of 1997. Results. 85% of the evaluated clinical records was incomplete. More than 50% of the clinical histories they were incomplete and 88% of the partograms, mainly the vital signs were omitted. Conclusions. Serious deficiencies exist in the elaboration of the clinical records that affect the appropriate attention and pursuit to the patients.REFERENCES
