ABSTRACT
Ectopic pregnancy is the most common life-threatening obstetric emergency in the early pregnancy. Although spontaneous resolution of ectopic pregnancy may occur, patients are at risk of rupture and bleeding. The prevalence of ectopic pregnancy is higher in those patients who undergo assisted reproduction techniques and those with risk factors, being even more frequent to submit ectopic twin pregnancies. In this paper we present the case of a 33 years old woman who has a history of a recurrent sexually transmitted infections, come to the Emergency Department of our hospital presenting abdominal pain and metrorrhagia associated with menstrual delay. Quantification of human chorionic gonadotrophin β fraction in blood resulting positive and a right tubal twin ectopic pregnancy was reported in transvaginal ultrasound, by such reasons it is decided a laparotomy for its resolution. The histopathological study reports a monocorionic biamniotic twin pregnancy of 7-8 weeks of gestation. It is important that the ph ysician has in mind the risk factors including, sexually transmitted disease, that in this case could precipitate the calving of ectopic pregnancy.
