ABSTRACT
In 1989 Enzinger first reported this neoplasm. In 1990 Enzinger et al. commented on 59 cases of tumors located in various places and described the histological characteristics of fibroid tumor of the temporal bone. Although mild cases have been reported, all tumors have a malignant potential; in 60 to 90% of cases bone formation occurs, and in 20% of cases, necrosis. We report the case of a 54 year-old woman with fibroid tumor of the temporal bone. The patient, who was diabetic and long evolution hypertense, attended for the current condition of three years of evolution, which consisted of progressive increase of retroauricular volume. This article discusses the medical-surgical management of this case and literature review.
