ABSTRACT
Red lunulae have been observed excepcionally in alopecia areata. We describe a 23-year-old girl with a multifocal alopecia areata of one year evolution which progress to a totalis. Few weeks later, we can observe red lunulae in all fingernails and both great toenails. Pathogenesis of red lunulae is uncertain. They usually appear shortly after the acute onset of hair loss and disappear slowly leaving, in some cases, Beau´s lines.
