ABSTRACT
The relationship between Diabetes Mellitus and Pancreatic Neoplasm has been a reason of discussion for several years. In about 50% of patients first studied for Sporadic Pancreatic Neoplasm the diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus has been found, of which half are diagnosed at the same time, or briefly after. There is an eight fold time risk for developing Pancreatic Neoplasm in elderly with recent diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus. The association between these two entities is not fully understood. It is thought that it may be in relation to glandular destruction by the tumor. It is suggested that the Beta cells dysfunction is the primary pathogenic defect associated. Because of its low incidence, the early diagnosis it’s not done, and in consequence has a poor prognosis.REFERENCES
