ABSTRACT
This paper presents the biographical summary of Sir. Harold Delf Gilies, otorhynolaryngologist who established the bases for the treatment of wounds produced to combatants of Multinational Expeditionary Forces set up in England during First World War. After First World War, he applied the knowledge learned in the field of Reconstructive Surgery and during Second World War he established the bases to consolidate its foundation as a specialty formally recognized. Gillies soon became in an obligated referent all over the world and many considered him as the “Father of Modern Plastic Surgery”. Some anecdotic data are mentioned about aspects of evolution of Otorhynolaryngology and Plastic Surgery in Mexico, related directly or indirectly to Gillies.
