ABSTRACT
Fibrous dysplasia is a benign condition, characterized by the replacement of normal bone by abnormal fibro osseous tissue; causing distortion and bone weakness in the affected regions, the most affected areas are the ribs, fibula, femur, maxillary, jaw and skull. It’s detected in childhood, and its progression usually stops in the early youth, when the bone structures stop developing, however, some cases have been detected in adult patients, where the development courses asymptomatic and is found in an incidental way. On the other hand, long term follow up has showed affection in adjacent bones to those initially affected. Craniofacial fibrous dysplasia has different clinical presentations, according to the affected bones, and the spread of the disease will determine the treatment. The aim of this communication is to present a review of the literature, and five cases with craniofacial affection, with the treatment each one received.REFERENCES
