ABSTRACT
The present study analyzes the positivity of
Cryptosporidium in children during a 15-year observation period in the province of Ciego de Ávila, Cuba. During the mentioned period, 27,987 diarrheal people were studied, and it was detected 2,546 cases of diarrhea over the 9% of the analyzed cases, ranging from the 3.9% to the 13.4% during the studied years. The presentation of isolated cases prevailed over outbreaks. The age group presenting the highest frequency was the group from six to 11 months, with a 51% of incidence. The performed epidemiologic analysis detected that the 19% of the cases had not consumed chlorinated water.
