ABSTRACT
Migraine headache is the cause of a very frequent ask of adviceworldwide. It represents a social, economic and important problem due to its recurrent, changeable and disabling effects. The complete knowledge of the international diagnostic criterion for the familial subtypes of migraine headache is yielding information which represents the unavoidable requirement to decrease the number of wrong diagnosis. There is a tendency of an excessive handling o, diagnosis for migraine related to the disregard about specific mechanisms that underlie these events and what they do, or don’t do, to cause the pain. As a consequence, there is not any reason to start an effective therapeutic scheme by prescribing medicines to patients who do not really need them. Several drugs could prevent or interrupt a migraine attack but they could not be suitable for any related pain. Understanding the cascade of biological events that happen in the brain to cause migraine will give opportunities to all doctors and patients to choose the appropriate medication according to severity of pain, presence of associated symptoms and the frequency of the crisis.
