ABSTRACT

A review of facial surgery history is made, from oriental period to current times, emphasizing the world events that gave formal beginning to specialty of otorhinolaryngology and the historical happenings that have led to establish it bases. The multiple contributions that otorhinolaryngology and other related specialties have done to general plastic surgery and facial surgery are also mentioned. Future expectations and actions for consolidation of facial surgery in Mexico are analyzed.
