ABSTRACT
Background: Malignancies arising at the nose and paranasal sinuses are an uncommon health disorder. They have been associated to some risk factors such as gender and age. The nose and paranasal sinuses are so close to vital structures that life could easily be involved, compromising patients’ life. Objective: To review most common histological features of nose and/or paranasal sinuses malignancies; gender and age frequencies, kind of treatment and cervical metastasis occurrence.
Material and method: We reviewed the files of patients diagnosed as having a malignancy of the nose and/or paranasal sinuses, looking for the histological features, gender, age, cervical metastasis and kind of treatment during a 10 years period.
Results: We found 83 patients. The most frequent tumor was the non-Hodgkin lymphomas, followed by mucosal melanoma, and different types of carcinomas.
Discussion: The tumors distribution in our series differs from the world literature reports.
