ABSTRACT
Inhalation of pulverized cocaine may cause damage to the nasal mucosa. When the intake is chronic, cocaine could cause extense osteocartilaginous destruction of the nose, paranasal sinuses and palate, simulating other diseases associated to necrotic damage on the midline. The incidence of these lesions is increasing because the cocaine intake is rising in the world population; furthermore it is necessary to consider this into the differential diagnosis. We present the case of a 38 years old male patient with septal and palate perforation; discussing its etiopathogenic factors, differential diagnosis and treatment.
