ABSTRACT

Rhinoseptoplasty prevents disorders in growing and development of nose, paranasal sinuses and facial structures; it is preferable to postpone surgery when the child is 16 years old. Rhinoseptoplasty in children is recommendable for the treatment of nasal trauma, septal deviation, hare lip, unilateral coanal atresia, dermoid cysts or sphenoid sinus disorders, but it has complications such as nasal obstruction, the risk of interfering with the nasal growing; besides the technical complications of the littleness of the children’s nasal fossa. This article reviews the internal and external structures of nose, the efficacy and safety of rhinoseptoplasty in children, its treatment, and the results of rhinoseptoplasty in literature.
