ABSTRACT
In the year of the bicentenary a review was made regarding Mexico’s conquest by Spain and the diseases the brought with them. Even when it’s not well documented, most authors agree that leprosy was brought into our country by the conquerors. From that moment on a lot of spanish and mexican personalities including physicians, dermatologists and dermato-leprologists have characterized by their fight against leprosy in Mexico and in the world. We enhance the contributions of Don Jesús González Urueña for showing the magnitude of the problem in our country and Dr. Fernando Latapí for devoting his life to the study of this disease and above all to the teaching of young dermatologists and physicians.REFERENCES
