ABSTRACT
Capsule endoscopy is a , wireless, endoscopic examination of the whole small bowel. The endoscopic capsule is propelled by peristalsis through the gastrointestinal tract. The video images are transmitted by radiotelemetry to an aerial array attached to the body, which allows image capture. The system allows more than 7 hours of continuous recording. The images are stored on a small portable recorder carried on a belt and subsequently downloaded for analysis.
The use of endoscopic capsule was approved the FDA in 2001. Actually, it is considered the first treatment of choice for obscure gastrointestinal bleeding with 33 to 100% of diagnostic yield. Furthermore, CE frequently detects intestinal lesions in patients with Crohn disease, Caeliac disease, malignant tumors, anti-inflammatory drugs users and familial polyposis, hemangiomas, vascular malformation.
We realice a prospective study no randomized with oscure gastrointestinal bleeding with normal endoscopy and colonoscopy in a period from January 2008 to March 2009, we include 8 patients 6 males 2 females, 2 with the presence of lymphoid hiperplasy, 1 patient with a hemangioma at 25 cm fo Trietz, 2 patient with Crohn disease, 1 patiente with polyposis in the middle portion of the ileon, and in one case was normal the study.
In the patient with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding is important to identify the cause and the location of the bleeding, in the patient where the colonoscopy a endoscopy was normal it´s a very useful method to identinfy the place of bleeding, so with the results give a treatment for every single person.e person.
