The «rubber band effect»: endo forehead surgery not using an endoscope

ABSTRACT

A surgical variable based on the concept of the aponeurotic frontooccipital functional anatomical unit complex to correct the facial upper third is presented. This surgical variation is safe; it allows eyebrow raising and improves the upper eyelids achieving our desired objectives by applying the principles of endosurgery without an endoscope. We called this technique «the rubber band effect». Small incisions are made and hidden in the hair to lift the periosteum from the upper front to the orbitary rim and from the upper portion of the skull to the occipital region afterwards. From here it is possible to manipulate depressor muscles with a long tip of an electrical knife, applying radiant energy to the muscles to cut or weaken them. We present the results in 328 female patients, the discussion and show benefits in patients with up to 15 years follow- up and complementary and supporting procedures currently applicable.
