ABSTRACT
The temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is a common disease that might affect all population. Displacement of the articular disc of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), with or without reduction, is the most common cause of alterations in the TMJ function. This article presents a 37 years-old female patient, with pain symptoms of 9 according to the visual analog scale (VAS) and a 25 mm limited mouth opening. A surgical menisco-condylar plication was performed using the technique described by Weinberg and Cousens and modified ulterly by Cavalcanti do Egito with a preauricular approach. Post-surgical evolution of the patient was favorable, pain symptoms disappeared and a 40 mm mouth opening was achieved.
