ABSTRACT
Sacrococcygeal teratomas are the most common germ cell tumors in childhood, accounting for up to 40% of all germ cell tumors and 78% of all extragonadal germ cell tumors. They are most frequently recognized during the fetal stage with an incidence of 1 in 30,000 to 40,000 birth. Most of these tumors are benign, and its early and complete surgical resection (sometimes performed in uterus) is the cornerstone of treatment, cure rates are greater than 95%, and rarely occur in adult life. The management of a patient with a diagnosis of sacrococcygeal teratoma is described; rebuilding the region through tissue expansion and rotate-advance flaps after their resection. A complete closure tension free was achieved without postsurgical complications.
