ABSTRACT

Intrathoracic gastric volvulus is a rare complication of diaphragmatic hernia, in which the stomach rotates in it´s organoaxial axis which predisposes it to strangulation and necrosis. This condition should be treated promptly as a surgical emergency. We report the case of a patient with a left diaphragmatic hernia complicated with an intrathoracic gastric volvulus which was successfully operated.
