ABSTRACT
Introduction: Septic pylephlebitis of the portal vein is a rare but potencially severe complication of abdominal sepsis. We report two patients with perforated appendicitis associated with pylephlebitis and liver abscess, who required liver percutaneous drainage and antibiotics. The diagnosis and treatment options are discussed.
Conclusions: This condition requires drainage of the abscess, and antibiotic therapy, both of which were successfully used in our patients.
