ABSTRACT
Domestic violence is an important health problem in world. Women are most affected and her partner is frequently the aggressor. This problem has many expressions which affect her physical and mental health, as well as her social and reproductive life. During pregnancy, the fetus or the newborn baby may be affected by direct effect of violence and also by the mother´s untidiness and neglect. This increases the risk of pre-term delivery, low birth weight infants, neonatal death, mother-baby attachment and unsatisfactory postpartum.breast-feeding Violence against pregnant women requires sensitivity, professional assessment and intervention by health staff, capable for identifying the maternal and fetal/neonatal outcomes. New research mechanisms for this problem are required.
