ABSTRACT
As any other health discipline, Dentistry must face the fact that previous experience and ambient provokes anxiety as a natural response. All that can be done to prevent the patient’s pain or anxiety during or after his dental treatment, as well as, the adequate drug control, mainly local anesthesia, will result in a calm and cooperative patient; therefore better attention and treatment can be given.
The local anesthesia technique was employed on posterior dental nerves. lt was applied on 79 patients that attended Oral Surgery Service for the extraction of one of their upper third molars. 75% of them were female and 25% male. Palatine puncture was avoided on 90% of the cases, therefore, less risk of an adverse pharmacological answer, as well as, less post-operation pain due to local anesthesia infiltration.
