ABSTRACT
The root canal length is a very important stage in the root canal treatment. Traditionally the root canal length is obtained by radiographic method, unfortunately it is an uncertain method in the estimation accuracy of the root canal length. The radiographic techniques is based on a subjective two dimensional interpretation of a three dimensional object. In this review, different related factors to incorrect estamation of the root canal length and biologic consequences are cited; therefore the alternatives presented can be better than the traditionally radiographic method. The knowledge of these factors can help the dentist to identify the best means to a more accurate estimation, to establish the best prognosis in the treatment of root canals.
