ABSTRACT
The MTA is used widely to fulfill essential criteria like sealing to defects in the roots. Investigations establish that the Portland cement, has components similar to the MTA except by bismuth oxide. The zinc phosphate does not have the characteristics of the previous ones. The propuse this work was to determine the sealed capacity of the MTA, used zinc phosphate and Portland in the cervical sealed one of treated teeth endodóntically, by means of the filtration of blue of methylene. For this study 150 canals of teeth, dividing in 5 groups were selected. To groups 1, 2, 3 the treatment of canals was made to them and frees last 3 mm to seal them with cements in study, the fourth group was obturated only. The teeth were submerged in blue of methylene during 2 and 7 days. The filtration through the clogging was moderate towards the canals in millimeters with optical microscope. Grooup 5 was the positive control.
The reults did not show significant difference between MTA and Portland in both periods, therefore these cements provide good sealed and the zinc phosphate is not reliable for the sealed one of the canals.
