ABSTRACT
Supernumerary teeth are described as the teeth formed in excess of the normal dental formula. The most common site for supernumerary teeth is the premaxillary region between the central incisors; in this area the extra tooth is called mesiodens. Supernumerary anterior teeth are frequent a cause of alterations in the eruption of permanent teeth. These alterations can be minimized if the removal of supernumerary teeth is done at the right moment. Early diagnosis of this anomaly is necessary to avoid development of more serious consequences.
