ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to determine the antibacterial effectiveness of calcium hydroxide with chlorhexidine 0.12% and to compare it with a calcium hydroxide 0.5% solution at minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), an oversaturated solution and a paste, bacterial strains of E. faecalis, E. mutans, B. subtilis, A. israelii, and a mixture of all of them was used to determine bacterial strains obtained from necrotic or infected root canals were used with the same purpose. A 30% of all the bacterial obtained were identified with API-STHA, API-20E, API-20NE, and API Candida systems by Biomerilux Laboratories. The data obtained was analyzed with a T-student and it a significant difference was found with an 0.001 alpha and for the diffusion agar test a 0.05 ANOVA test.
