ABSTRACT
Particular epidemiological characteristics determine the high prevalence of tuberculosis, occurring this mainly in underdeveloped nations, from mediocre through poor sanitary conditions; for instance: lower coverage of immunization, absence or deficiency of quality in preventive and healing medical services, lack of antituberculosis drugs, delays on diagnoses and treatments, failing when following standardized procedures (such as directly observed therapy), non application of standardized procedures, shortage of medication, uneven management of the disease in the private practice, poor health programs, lack of stimuli for patients and health personnel as well. On the other hand, there are some other facts which favor the evolution of this disease, high levels of undernourishment, and other chronic and degenerative illnesses, immunodeficiency caused by HIV as well as migration.
