ABSTRACT
Carmen Castañeda, a teacher, earned her degree as a librarian at the School of Archival and Library Sciences of the Ministry of Public Education. She organized, catalogued and evaluated many important libraries at scholarly and political institutions, and was among the creators of the Library of Medical History “Dr. Nicolás León” at the UNAM’s Faculty of Medicine. Daughter of the prestigious Mexican physician Gonzalo Castañeda, from a young age she learned to value and love books. Also, she became personally acquainted with many outstanding figures in the history of medicine in Mexico.
