ABSTRACT
For many years since the start of blood transfusion the main concern was to get blood, do not get donors. It was a problem of quantity. No importance was given to the source or type of donor who gave blood. Since the 70’s it was established that only voluntary, altruistic and repetitive blood donors from the community could meet quality standards for the blood donation for transfusion. The voluntary, unpaid blood donation is better not only in terms of quality but also quantity and should therefore appeal to the individual responsibility of the population during the campaigns to promote blood donation.REFERENCES
