ABSTRACT
Antecedents: The laryngeal mask arises anatomically as an addition for the boarding of the air road difficult, it guarantees an appropriate ventilation and oxygenation.
Objective: To evaluate the use of LMA ProSeal, like an option in patient with traumatisms of inferior members that will be subjected to surgical procedures of urgency.
Material and methods: We was carried out a controlled clinical assay, in 120 patients where the Laryngeal Mask ProSeal was used during the general anesthesia, in patient with traumatisms of inferior members that were intervened of urgency, in bigger than 18 years, from July of the 2007 to August of the 2008, in the Hospital «Guillermo Luis Fernández Hernández-Baquero», Moa, Holguín, Cuba. They were divided in two groups of 60 patients each one: Group I: Mask ProSeal and Group II: Tube orotracheal. The blood pressure stocking, heart rate and oxygen saturation were obtained in the perioperatory.
Results: Increase of the blood pressure stocking of 88.1 ± 3.05 mmHg of the Group was observed II with regard to the Group I 79.5 ± 3.4 and the heart rate increased in the Group II in the induction 100.3 ± 4.5 beaten per minute, with regard to the Group I of 90.2 ± 1.3 beaten per minute; being statistically significant. 8% of the patients of the Group I presented complications, and in the Group II 45%.
Conclusions: That bigger stability hemodynamic and less complications is achieved with the use of the laryngeal mask ProSeal.
