ABSTRACT
Cat scratch disease (CSD) is an infectious disease caused by
B. henselae a gram-negative cocobacillus and the cat is known as the main reservoir. The infection can be acquired after being scratched or bitten by a cat or a dog and is considered the most common cause of chronic benign lymphadenopathy in children and youth. We present a case in a 32 years-old male attended at the Internal Medicine Department of the Hospital Angeles del Pedregal due to axillary lymphadenopathy and fever. Laboratory tests confirmed the diagnosis of infection by
B. henselae and was treated with azithromycin with good response. The CSD is unfrequently diagnosed in our country, therefore we need to remember that a common cause of fever and regional lymphadenopathy.
