ABSTRACT
Acne is the most common dermatologic disease in teenagers, who are victims of prejudgments, dogmas, and myths from people and even physicians. Its incidence is increasing and impacts its quality of life. Still there is not a unique and valid prescription. Subjective observations still surpass what has been demonstrated by clinical research that precisely analyzes the effects of diet in acne. Many concepts are still rudimentary and unpractical (there are no prospective studies in the last decade). The association between diet and acne is still inconclusive; the final verdict with validated statistical information is still on the wait.
