Pancreatic panniculitis

ABSTRACT

We report a 50-year old female patient with a pancreatic panniculitis. The diagnosis of this entity was carried out through history, clinical investigations; mainly pancreatic enzymes, as well as skin biopsy. Radiological studies and abdominal ultrasonography demonstrated a tumor localized in the pancreas tail. After tumor resection, histopathologic examination of the biopsy revealed a pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Due to the important implications for the patient, pancreatic panniculitis should be diagnosed by the dermatologist and physicians in other specialties.
