Establishment of technology for leukocyte packed preparation and its utilization to treat leukopenic sick dogs, as well as the surveillance after transfusion, were the goals of this study. By means of clinical and laboratory analyses, five healthy blood donators and five leukopenic sick dogs were selected. The five sick receptors, no matter the etiology, were transfused with fresh leukocytes within the following two hours. Blood leukocyte count was performed at 24, 48, 72 and 96 h after the transfusion. Four out of the five receptors had a positive response by clinical and laboratory analyses, and no adverse sings were observed after the transfusion.
